The Xugana Lagoon is widely accepted as being the most spectacular permanent water site in the entire Okavango Delta, which in the midst of the Kalahari sands, is Africa`s largest and most awe-inspiring oasis. The Okavango River, rises in the highlands of Angola and never reaches the sea; instead its immense waters empty over the sands of the Kalahari.

Day 1            Arrival in Botswana

Upon arrival at Maun Airport and after clearing customs/immigrations, you will be met and assisted onto your scheduled charter flight into the Okavango Delta.  This scenic flight lasts about 30 minutes to Xugana Island.

Day 2            Okavango Delta

Explore the water wilderness of the Okavango on a choice of water-based activities.  These range from boat trips, game walks on the surrounding islands to Mokoro (traditional canoe) activities, all guided by experienced professional safari guides.

The Okavango Delta, and more specifically the permanent Okavango Delta form a unique ecosystem which is fascinating and rewarding to visit for the avid safari-goer. This area, with its combination of permanent watercourses, massive floodplains and network of intriguing island networks is a safe haven to many animal and bird species.

Today you will be collected at Xugana Island Lodge for your scheduled charter flight back to Maun Airport.

Malaria including Plasmodium falciparum exists in certain areas. All clients must consult with their own MD or the Center for Disease Control regarding the use of anti-malarial tablets prior to departure. There are many brands available and we recommend that clients consult their doctor, health clinic or health department as to which brand they should take. For walking activities at Xugana Island Lodge, a reasonable level of fitness is required.

Luggage is restricted to 20kg on air charters in soft bags ONLY including hand luggage.
