The Drakensberg mountains of South Africa or uKhahlamba (the Barrier of Spears) is a 200-kilometer-long mountainous wonderland and world heritage site. The largest proportion of the Drakensberg area falls in the province of KwaZulu-Natal.

DAY 1 – Durban to the Drakensberg
After an early departure from Durban, we travel to the Valley of 1000 Hills and enjoy the magnificent panorama. Continue to the colonial town of Pietermaritzburg, famous for its many Victorian buildings, and then on to the spectacular Howick Falls, where the Umgeni River plunges 95 metres over dolomite cliffs. After stopping for lunch en-route (own account), the journey continues through the Natal Midlands to the central Drakensberg for your overnight. Dinner included at lodge.

DAY 2 – Drakensberg to Durban
This morning we depart the hotel in 4 x 4 vehicles and climb the Sani Pass into the Mountain Kingdom of Lesotho. At 2874 metres above sea level the Sani Pass is the highest vehicle pass in Southern Africa. Visit an authentic Sotho village where you learn more about these friendly inhabitants before stopping for lunch at the highest pub in Africa! Return to Durban in the late afternoon.
